Q&A Integumentary coding

I have a question regarding lesion excision, skin tag removal, etc. I watched the Blitz videos and have marked my book with # of lesions. I am confused as to whether or not to actually indicate how many lesions are to be reported. Example: there are 10 lesions for 11901....do I just report 11901 once or do I code 11901 x2. For 11300 there are 4 lesions of the same diameter in the same area....do I code 11300 x 4? For paring and cutting....there are 3 lesions....do I code 11056 and write down the number of lesions or just the code. My CPC exam in on December 8th and I am starting to panic so I am getting confused...lol.

Thank you,

Darlene

As this clip from my CPT Manual shows for 1-7 lesions you would report only one unit of 11900. For 8 or more report only one unit of 11901.

For 11300 - each lesion gets their own coder (or unit as the case may be) - so in your example you are correct 11300 x 4.
